Got A Lot Of Landscape Rocks? How You Can Use Them For Your Landscaping

You may be surprised at the many ways you can use landscape rocks for your landscaping.  You may be having a hard time deciding what to do with them. If so, keep reading for three tips so you can put the rocks to good use.

Use for a Retaining Wall

If your landscape rocks are large enough you can use them to build a retaining wall, they can look beautiful in landscaping, especially if they are made of different sized and different colored rocks. You can make a retaining wall only a few feet tall. You can also install a short retaining wall that circles flowers.

If you have a sloped yard, a retaining wall can be used to help prevent water from pooling in the middle of your yard. Having a lot of water on a lawn will cause damage, especially if your area gets a lot of rain. If you have a lot of rocks and would like to do this, you can hire a landscape contractor to build and install the retaining wall for you.

Use for a Stone Path

Landscape rocks can be used to create a stone path in your yard. You can space the landscape rocks out to make them look like steppingstones. If you create a solid path, dig a trench, put landscape fabric into the trench, and then lay the landscape rocks over the fabric. The fabric is important as this will help prevent the rocks from sinking into the soil.

If you have a flower garden, you can put a path in front of it for you to stand on or make the path wide enough to sit chairs or a bench on. You could install a path that leads to your front porch. You could also create a path that leads to a patio or deck.

Use for Mulch

If you have flower beds in your yard and you also have small landscape rocks, you can use them as mulch on the bed. This not only makes the flower beds look much better but also helps your flowers. This is because the rocks will block out the sun so weeds will not grow. Weeds can be hard to control, especially if you have a lot of them, so this will save you a lot of time.

Choose rocks of different sizes and colors to make the mulch look interesting. No matter what you use, put a few inches of rocks and then pull them away from the base of each flower you. have planted.
