If you are landscaping your yard with the goal of outdoor living in mind, you can't just throw a few chairs and a table out back and call it a day. In order to have the best outdoor living space, there are a few things that you should incorporate in order to make it a fully functional, cozy outdoor living space. Be sure to include these few things when you are creating your outdoor living space.
Outdoor Kitchen
No outdoor living space is complete without an area to prepare, store and cook food. To truly have the outdoor living experience, you don't want to be running inside to the kitchen constantly. Ideally, your outdoor kitchen should include the following:
- A mini fridge
- A sink
- Countertops
- Grill or smoker
- Storage
You want to be able to store, prepare and cook your food all in one place, and an outdoor kitchen will allow you to do just that.
Fireplace or Pit
As pleasant as summer nights are, they can get rather chilly too. An outdoor fireplace not only improves the appearance of your outdoor living space, but it will also emit the perfect amount of heat. It can be not too hot, but warm enough to keep you comfortable as you enjoy your outdoor living space. If you can't commit to a full fireplace outside, consider buying a stand-alone fire pit that can be placed anywhere in your yard.
Lighting
In order to enjoy your outdoor living space completely, you need to be able to see and navigate it. However, you don't want harsh indoor lighting that would ruin the ambiance of your space. Consider hanging string lights around your space to light it up. You might also want to place torches strategically around your space. Make sure the lighting is bright enough that you can see and navigate your environment, but dim enough to maintain the proper ambiance.
Outdoor Living Room
No outdoor living space is complete without an area to kick back and relax. Ideally, an outdoor living space should include a large, comfy couch made for the outdoors, pillows, comfy chairs and ottomans. Be sure to include end and side tables so that you and your guests have a place to put your drinks. Include a dining set, set apart from your living space, so that you have a place to dine and then relax.
